The Look
Lyrics
It's no surprise,
I think I could fall asleep tonight,
Holding you tight,
In danger of a perfect moment of time.
When you ask me "what's that look for?"
How do I explain when it's so much more?
It's all the things I can't don't have the courage to say.
And not enough time for whatever I may,
Pay attention to the iris-bound picture book.
Read my eyes darling, a million words in the look.
So let it linger,
As I stare into your eyes.
I'm caught in your story.
In a web of your love-laced lines,
Calm and content here,
With your lovely permanent grin,
You're even more perfect,
When the question comes again:
You ask me "what's that look for?"
How do I explain when it's so much more?
It's all the things I can't don't have the courage to say.
And not enough time for whatever I may,
Pay attention to the iris-bound picture book.
Read my eyes darling, a million words in the look.
I don't need faith to tell me when I should leap,
Cause I'm floating farther than the bounds of my wildest dream,
You've got the magic and I've got the hope, we won't run out of steam,
I just need the question.
You ask me "what's that look for?"
I explain when it's so much more?
It's all the things I can't don't have the courage to say.
And not enough time for whatever I may,
Pay attention to the iris-bound picture book.
Read my eyes darling, a million words in the look.
The Story
Artem wrote this song for his girlfriend early in their relationship. You know those glances that linger a little bit when you're really infatuated with someone? Every now and then, she would catch him looking and ask "what's that look for?" Of course, being early in a relationship, you can't just tell the other person outright how you feel, so he would reply "just looking". That's not the whole story of course, but you can figure out the rest.
